Climact lemons

Climate change is one of society’s greatest challenges. It is also one of the greatest risks to the future of our planet.
For us, as food producers, the protection of the environment has always been one of our brand values. That’s the reason why we are now pioneers offering you the first neutral carbon lemons on the market.

Let’s climact!

Our Climact, seal guarantees consumers that they are indeed buying organic lemons, with a neutral and compensated carbon footprint. In this way, the consumer is directly supporting a more sustainable product that protects the environment.

What does carbon neutrality means?

Products become carbon neutral when their carbon emissions have been calculated and compensate for what they have produced via carbon offsetting projects. Offsetting carbon emissions, in addition to avoidance and reduction, is an important step in holistic climate action.

Carbon neutral does not mean carbon-free. Carbon-free products are those that do not generate any carbon emissions during the manufacturing or operational process. As a matter of fact, there are no examples (yet) of carbon-free products.

We understand that pursuing carbon reduction and neutrality must be accompanied by transparency throughout the whole process. For that reason, we chose Climate Partner to certify and accompany us throughout the whole process.

Calculate, reduce and offset

To achieve neutrality, it was necessary to calculate the total carbon footprint from all the inputs used and the emissions generated during the fruit’s different production processes, from the field to the supermarket. The goal was to identify those where it was possible to reduce emissions.

Secondly, we have reduced our emissions to the minimum, mainly in two areas: reducing and eliminating plastic in our packaging and throughout our agroecological production method, Growing for Life.

Finally, we have compensated with social and environmental projects the emissions that we have not been able to reduce, at the moment. Thanks to these projects, we help other groups to reduce their carbon footprint as well.

These are the first carbon-neutral lemons on the market, and for us, it is a way to formalizing our commitment to the environment and to society.

Let’s climact!
